NXG Trust run a variety of community activities for local residents, all aimed at bringing the community together and providing the opportunity for local people to learn new skills, stay healthy, meet new people and have a bit of a laugh.

Gardening Club – Mondays 1-3pm, and Wednesdays 12-2pm
Every Monday and Wednesday, rain or shine, Gardening Club meets to garden and maintain our gorgeous site at Besson Street. As the Japanese proverb says “Garden is never finished”, there’s always something that needs doing. You can grow your own vegetables, grow flowers, or engage in digging and weeding, whatever takes your fancy. We are always looking for new volunteers, so please come along if you are interested in helping us to maintain the community garden. You are most welcome.

Sewing clubs – We currently run two sewing club sessions from Besson Street Community Garden. Classes run Monday morning, 9.30-11.30am, and Wednesday afternoon 1:00-3:00pm. The classes are for anyone who wants an excuse to get out of the house, meet new people and learn or improve their sewing skills. The focus of this class is on health and well-being, encouraging people to get out of the house, meet new people, and tackle social isolation.

Sewing and Gardening sessions are currently funded by The Mercers Trust and Hobson’s Charity.

Anyone is welcome to come along and join in. Please contact Jill Mountford for further details. Email: Jill.mountford@nxgtrust.org.uk.

Walk your way to fitness  – Set up to support local people who are currently inactive and looking to improve their fitness. This is one of the best ways to get fit and has many different health benefits. No special equipment is required, just a comfortable pair of shoes.
The group is often accompanied by a qualified dietician, who is on hand to provide advice on healthy eating to support the management of diabetes. Contact our walk leader, Alicia on 07990 444905 or Alicia.pierre@nxgtrust.org.uk for further information.

Self-Help Depression Group -This group meets every Wednesday 6.30pm-8.30pm at Besson Street Community Garden, Call the office for further information.

Open Gate – every Wednesday we host ‘Open Gate’, which provides an opportunity for anyone to come along, ask questions, find out about what we do and how you can get involved. Please come along from 1.30-5.00pm and find out all about the Trust and the work we do.

JOY Cuppa Club – On the Third Friday of every month, we host ‘Cuppa Club’ at Besson Street Community Garden, 2.00-4.00pm Free. Everyone is welcome to any of the JOY activities throughout the week.
