Covid 19-Vulnerable and need support?

Lewisham Local

Lewisham Local are coordinating the Lewisham community response, they can help the most vulnerable in our communities. There is an online referral form click here or phone 03330 150378 Mon – Fri 9am-5pm

They can help you by:

  • Delivering food and wider supplies, A £15 food parcel delivered can be delivered to your door (prioritised for those most in need)
  • Befriending and support if you are socially isolated
  • General support for those looking to volunteer in their local area

NHS Volunteer Responders

Requests for volunteer support can be made by your GP team or you can self-refer by calling 0808 196 3382 or for online referral click here. Priority help is for those identified as most vulnerable:

  • People aged 70 years and older with underlying health conditions
  • If you are in the ‘extremely vulnerable’ to COVID 19 group and have been sent a letter asking you to shield from the virus
  • People who are pregnant
  • If you are newly socially vulnerable as a result of COVID 19
  • People who have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010
  • Others with high-risk conditions could include:
    • People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
    • People with serious heart conditions
    • People who are immunocompromised including because of cancer treatment
    • People of any age with severe obesity e.g. body mass index (BMI) over 40
    • Certain underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, such as those with diabetes, dementia, renal failure, or liver disease might also be at risk

They can help you with a:

  • Community Response volunteer: Collecting shopping, medication or other essential supplies for someone who is self-isolating, and delivering these supplies to their home
  • Check-in and Chat volunteer: Short-term telephone support to individuals who are at risk of loneliness as a consequence of self-isolation

 

Evelyn Ward Mutual Aid Group

This is a group of local volunteer residents who are supporting local communities, for more info click here and for online referral click here. This mutual aid group is coordinated by Rees who can be contacted on rarnottdavies@googlemail.com or 07837168099

They can help you by:

  • Supporting deliveries or shopping for urgent supplies
  • Friendly supportive phone calls
  • Posting mail
  • Topping up electric or gas

2000 Community Action Centre

They are supporting the local community with food provision for vulnerable and low-income families and housing and benefits advice through Bench Outreach. click here for more info.

  • The social supermarket/ foodbank provides weekly food for local low-income families and individuals
  • Grove Café is closed but still staffed Thursday and Friday to provide emergency assistance for the foodbank / social supermarket and the advice service for Bench Outreach on housing & benefits

Grove Medical Health Champions

  • The health champions are supporting the health and wellbeing of our patients by working with the One Health Lewisham Social Prescribing team to contact vulnerable patients for wellbeing checks
