If you or a member of your family need medical advice or treatment and/or need to see a GP outside of normal GP practice hours, you may be offered an appointment as part of our Enhanced Access Service.
What is Enhanced Access?
The Enhanced Access Service provides patients with additional appointments outside of normal GP opening hours. These are known as enhanced access appointments and are available
- Monday-Friday: 18:30 to 20:00
- Saturday: 09:00 – 17:00
Please note that this is not a walk-in service and appointments must be booked in advance during surgery opening hours.
Will I be seen at my own GP practice?
Appointments are offered from one of our Enhanced Access Sites.
PCN offers enhanced access appointments at Waldron Health Centre, Suite 1, Ground Floor, Amersham Vale, London, SE14 6LD
Who can use Enhanced Access Appointments??
The appointments are available to patients who are
- Registered with a GP practice within North Lewisham Primary Care Network (PCN)
- Require an urgent same day or next day urgent care in general practice.
- Your appointment request has been assessed and triaged by your own GP practice and subsequently booked you an enhanced access appointment.
- Routine appointments as identified by your GP.
Our sites also offer appointments for some of the following services
- Routine cervical smear tests
- Health checks
- Vaccinations/ immunisations
- Phlebotomy (taking bloods)
- Management of Long-term conditions such as diabetes
- First contact physio
What can I expect?
You can expect a similar service and experience to when you visit the GP practice you are registered for.
It is unlikely, though, that you will be seen by a member of your own practice’s team. You will be seen by a fully qualified and experienced GP, Nurse or other Healthcare Professional such as a pharmacist, physiotherapist.
Will I be seen face to face?
Face to face appointments are available, although you may also be offered a telephone or online consultation.
Can I ask for an enhanced access appointment?
If you are unable to get an immediate appointment at your GP practice, an enhanced access appointment should be offered to you. If this is not offered, please ask the receptionist.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
To call extended access on 0203 049 8300
How will my records be shared?
With your consent, your medical record will be available to the Healthcare Professional that sees you, to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care.
Your consultation will be recorded in your medical records.
Full details of how and when your records will be shared are available in the Fair Processing and Privacy Notice.
